“Art, law and deviance – Caravaggio and the charm of evil” the new work by Riccardo Mariconti.
“Art, Law & Deviance – Caravaggio and the charm of evil” is a multidisciplinary work that analyzes painting from the jurist's point of view: the entire text is a journey between criminal law and the works of that artist who in Michelangelo Merisi, known as Caravaggio, grew up badly, both from a biographical and productive point of view.
Un interesting work which combines two usually unexplored subjects, art and criminal law, to enhance them mutually and create a light and pleasant text.
Caravaggio, an excellent painter but at the same time a brutal criminal, is the common thread of the book: from the analysis of his most suggestive paintings, the author throws himself into the legal evaluation, to explain with simplicity the crimes and the institutions of criminal law represented in it.
In the work, by the author Riccardo Mariconti, the paintings of the Caravaggio, more relevant from a criminal point of view: dark or chilling, which are imbued with that criminal drive inherent in human beings. Delinquent impulse of which Caravaggio is undoubtedly a worthy representative: in short, the writing is a work illustrated through paintings, from which we start to explain what criminal law is, thus bringing the reader closer to a series of topics that can fascinate and be useful at the same time to avoid falling under the long arm of human justice .
