Cerreto d'Esi: steals the digital identity of a Fabriano citizen to access a 12 thousand Euro loan.
The Carabinieri of the Cerreto d'Esi Station have reported, for the crime of impersonation, a forty-year-old Piedmontese man burdened by a police record for crimes of the same nature.
The referral was triggered by the filing of a complaint at the Carabinieri Station of Cerreto d'Esi by a fifty-year-old from Fabriano, who was alarmed after receiving a communication at his home address in which a credit institution invited him to pay off a debt - never incurred by the man - of over 13.000 Euros. At the conclusion of complex investigations, the military found that the suspect had initially managed to appropriate the identity of another, even stealing a copy of the document and tax code of the accused when he had entered his data on a website to rent a car.
Subsequently, the offender, using the false personal details stolen, had obtained a loan for the amount of 12.000 Euros, which then rose to approximately 13.500 due to the interest to be paid on top of the debt. By following the flow of money paid by the bank to a current account actually attributable to the suspect, the military personnel of the Arma were able to identify him.
The victim, once his total innocence has been ascertained, will no longer have to pay any sum.
