Castelfidardo: the Carabinieri arrest two people, originally from Campania, for fraud using the “false carabiniere” method.

The Carabinieri of the Castelfidardo (AN) station have arrested two men, originally from Campania, in the act of committing the crime of aggravated fraud.
During a service aimed at combating and repressing the phenomenon of scams against elderly people, the military, in the early afternoon, in Castelfidardo, subjected a car with two people on board to a check.

The search led to the discovery of a plastic bag containing gold jewelry in the car, the origin of which the two men were unable to explain.
The investigations made it possible to clarify, in a short time, how the jewels had been stolen from a woman from Osimo, with the method of the now well-known “false marshal” scam.

The elderly lady, in fact, had received a call on her landline, in which a self-styled “Marshal of the Carabinieri” had informed her that her son had been arrested because, while driving his car, he had caused a child to be hit, warning her that, to avoid more serious consequences, she would have to pay the other party 7.000 euros.

A few minutes later, a young man showed up to collect the money and, by deceiving the woman, managed to get her to hand over all the jewels in the house, which were worth only about the requested amount.
The lady was very happy when, in the afternoon, the Carabinieri of Castelfidardo returned all the stolen jewels to her, some of which, in addition to their considerable economic value, also have an emotional value that is difficult to estimate.

The two arrested, a forty-one year old and a twenty-nine year old, from the Neapolitan hinterland, after being photographed, were transferred to the Ancona Montacuto prison.
