Ancona: Blood on the streets. In Jesi and Senigallia, checks and fines for drug and alcohol driving

In recent weeks, the Carabinieri of the Province of Ancona have marked a clear intensification in the road checks aimed at counter dangerous driving behavior, focusing in particular on thealcohol abuse anddrug use while driving.

The data of theroad accidents, in fact, they return a still worrying picture of road accidents with consequences on people's health despite the fact that the warm season has not yet begun, which traditionally leads to greater road mobility and a tendency of nightlife people to approach entertainment without taking into account, too often, the harmful effects of the excessive use of prohibited substances.

Along the coast, the Carabinieri of Senigallia Company have increased targeted services, with checkpoints lined up on the main roads in the area.

They are overall 5 motorists fined for driving under the influence of alcohol (including 1 who had never obtained a driving licence), and in 3 cases the levels of the blood alcohol levels found far exceeded the threshold more serious than 1,5 grams/liter.

The checks mainly concerned thenight time slot and in one case, a motorist involved in a road accident – ​​fortunately with no injuries – was found to have a blood alcohol level almost 4 times higher than the limit maximum allowed.

A driver he was also found in possession, inside the vehicle, of some doses of cocaine, thus being reported to the Prefecture as a user, with serious consequences on the possibility of regaining driver's license, which was given to him retreat.

The same situation was also found in the internal areas of the province. In particular the Carabinieri of the Jesi Company they have patrolled the main fast-flowing arteries of their territory, also equipping themselves with the precursor tests for ascertain the use of drugs while driving.

They are well 9 motorists reported to the Judicial Authority and of these well 4 were found under the influence of cocaine or cannabinoids. Here too, the data on the alcohol levels detected is striking: in 3 of the 5 cases of drunk drivers, the concentration of alcohol in the blood far exceeded the maximum threshold.

In two episodes, furthermore, the investigation was carried out following road accidents which, only by chance, did not involve third parties.

On the topic of prevention, it is necessary to understand the risk that one takes, for oneself and for others, by driving in a state of psychophysical alteration.

Even today, distraction, especially that induced byuse of alcohol and drugs, constitutes the main cause of fatal road accidents.

La presence of the Carabinieri on the street, therefore, wants to represent a tool to prevent and deter from these driving behaviors, with the intent of to radically reduce the phenomenon of fatal accidents.
