Femicide in Monte Roberto: woman found dead in her home, husband wanted.
The community of Pianello Vallesina, a small hamlet of Monte Roberto in the province of Ancona, has been shaken by a case of femicide that brings with it all the tragedy of long-standing and frequently reported domestic violence. Sadjide Muslija, of Macedonian origin and a long-time resident of the Marche region, was found dead in her home in the early afternoon of today, December 3rd. Her body, lying on the bed and suffering from severe beatings and deep head injuries, suggests a violent death, likely occurring between nightfall and the early hours of the morning. The most likely hypothesis is that she was beaten to death by her husband, Nazif Muslija, a compatriot of her age, who is now unaccounted for.
The discovery of the body and the first investigations
The alarm was raised when the woman's employer, not seeing her arrive and unable to contact her, decided to report the situation. The Carabinieri who responded to the scene found the door to the apartment open, with the keys still in the door, a detail that immediately led to suspicions of the attacker's hasty escape. Inside, the officers found the woman's body on the bed, in a pool of blood, her face completely disfigured. There was nothing more that could be done for her. The magistrate on duty and the Carabinieri from the Investigative Unit and the Scientific Investigations Section of Ancona, along with the military from the Jesi Company, also arrived at the crime scene.
A past marked by repeated violence
Sadjide Muslija's death is not an isolated event, but the tragic epilogue of a spiral of abuse that began at least two years ago. The woman had repeatedly reported her husband for physical and psychological abuse, recounting increasingly serious incidents. The climax came on April 12th, when the husband, convinced he had been cheating on him, smashed the bedroom door with an axe, forcing his wife to flee to the neighbors. Only the intervention of the Carabinieri was able to halt the escalation of violence.
The arrest, the plea bargain and the return to cohabitation
After the serious incident, the man was arrested and remanded in prison for mistreatment. However, the following July, he obtained a plea bargain, thus benefiting from release. Despite the violence, the couple resumed living together after a period of separation, and the house where they reunited was the same one where the woman was found dead.
The husband's escape and the ongoing investigations
In the hours following the discovery of the body, investigators focused on the husband, who had not shown up for work this morning. Colleagues at the company where he worked confirmed his absence, while the Carabinieri confirmed that he had disappeared. The search began then, supported by patrols and specialized units.
A death that reopens the issue of victim protection
The case of Sadjide Muslija reignites the painfully current debate on the protection of women who report domestic abuse. The victim had already repeatedly sought help from law enforcement, and her husband, arrested and convicted, was released within a few months. The final outcome, which saw a woman brutally murdered just days before her fiftieth birthday, dramatically raises new questions about the effectiveness of protection measures and the effectiveness of judicial mechanisms in preventing the already widely anticipated escalation of violence.
A shocked community and an ongoing investigation
While investigators continue their work and the search for the man continues unabated, the community of Monte Roberto remains in shock. A terrible story, unfolding within the confines of a home, in a house that should have been a refuge, but instead became the scene of a brutal murder. The femicide of Sadjide Muslija leaves behind pain, questions, and yet another reminder of the need to intervene promptly and decisively in situations of domestic violence, before it's too late.
