Two Georgians arrested for supermarket theft in Chiaravalle
The Carabinieri of the Norm of the Jesi Company and of the Chiaravalle Station have A 43-year-old and a 29-year-old Georgian man, already known to the police for similar crimes, were arrested in flagrante delicto for theft. The operation was triggered following the report received by the manager of the Lidl supermarket in Chiaravalle, who had indicated the presence of two men inside the store who were suspiciously wandering among the shelves and who at a certain point had walked away, after having paid for a few euros' worth of goods, wearing apparently full backpacks. The whistleblower was quick to note the model and license plate of the vehicle used by the two, thus triggering a wide-ranging search of the area., which involved all the patrols in the circuit.
The car, a white Jeep, was then located in Falconara, also here near a supermarket. The two occupants were immediately stopped and their vehicle was thoroughly searched. Inside the car 83 bottles of branded spirits and 221 packets of chewing gum were found, as well as several boxes of razor blades, worth around 1000 Euro. The trunk of the vehicle also contained a wire cutters and work gloves. At the same time, outside the supermarket in Chiaravalle, abandoned objects were found on the ground numerous anti-theft plates placed right on the stolen whiskey bottles and most likely separated from the two using the found wire cutters.
Shortly after the first report of theft, during the search for the two fugitives, the military of the Radiomobile of Jesi had the intuition to check a Peugeot with on board in the streets of that center another Georgian citizen, 26 years old, also burdened by specific police records. The intuition proved correct since the man was found to be in possession of a further 18 bottles of spirits as well as about forty packages of cosmetic products and beauty creams, which, following further investigation, turned out to have been stolen that same morning from supermarkets in Jesi. A complaint was filed against him for receiving stolen goods but investigations are underway to ascertain his possible connection with the gang of the two individuals captured in Falconara. The two arrested were brought before the Court of Ancona for the celebration of the summary trial.
