Molare (Alessandria), the elderly couple who disappeared in the woods of Acqui found by the Carabinieri

They had gone into the woods in search of mushrooms and chestnuts but at a certain point they lost their bearings. A quiet walk in the wooded area near the Bandita hamlet of the Municipality of Cassinelle risked turning into a bad experience for a couple of 81 and 76 years.

Late yesterday morning, the two got lost after having wandered too far into the woods without realizing it, where they were counting on finding mushrooms and chestnuts for the evening.

Disoriented, they found themselves surrounded by thick vegetation and continuous ups and downs, some very dangerous, with the increasingly concrete fear of no longer being able to find the path to return to the car.

Walking in search of a way out, they ended up on the banks of the Meri stream, from where they requested the intervention of the Carabinieri, calling 112.

The Carabinieri of Molare, having quickly studied the map of the woods in the area and thanks to their knowledge of the territory, identified the point from where the call had been sent, thanks to the descriptions of the place provided by the couple.The rapid intervention made it possible to reach the two elderly spouses and lead them back along a safe path, after having climbed, with no small amount of difficulty, the side of the hill.

Frightened but unharmed, after walking for about an hour with the two Carabinieri who had found them, the two elderly people then reached the road where they had parked their car and where another Carabinieri patrol was waiting for them, ready to provide any further assistance.

A story with a happy ending, thanks to the trust of the two spouses, who did not hesitate to call 112, and to the Carabinieri who, thanks to their perfect knowledge of the territory and the timeliness of their intervention, promptly found them and brought them home.
