Volpedo: Elderly man from Pavia loses his way home and walks 20km to Alessandria

A 93-year-old man from Pavia was rescued by the Carabinieri after having lost his way home and traveled over 20 km to reach the Alessandria area. The man was subjected to the necessary health checks by 118 personnel and subsequently taken home.

In Volpedo an elderly man wanders around the town in a state of confusion, a passerby alerts the Carabinieri of the local station, but in the meantime loses sight of him.

The search begins, with the patrol tracking down the man, walking through streets and alleys for about an hour until they track him down.

The old man is cold and initially is unable to provide any information useful for identification. Then, Thanks to the documents he had with him, the Carabinieri were able to give him a name: he is 93 years old and lives in the province of Pavia, from where he left on foot, covering over twenty kilometres..

The Carabinieri are looking for the family members and manage to get in touch with the nephew, who has been busy searching for over five hours in the Voghera area.

In the meantime, the elderly man is helped by the 118 staff who note his good general health and by the Carabinieri who restore him until the arrival of his grandson, who can finally hug the elderly man again and take him home.
