Sicily: Agrigento Capital of Culture, Scarpinato: «The Mediterranean finds its cradle»

«The nomination of Agrigento as Italian capital of culture rewards not only the city, but the project to enhance one of the richest territories in the Mediterranean, the cradle of different cultures that still today dialogue together. Agrigento should be read against the light, focusing on the temples, on the theatre that is slowly coming to light, on the ancient houses and villas that are re-emerging from the oblivion of time. It is a single thread that connects the majesty of the Valley to the many minor sites to which we dedicate continuous attention: it will be a beautiful year, in which we will tell the world about our work and our dream of a contemporary Sicily that treasures its past but looks to the future".

He said so the regional councillor for cultural heritage, Francesco Paolo Scarpinato who, on behalf of the President of the Region, Renato Schifani, took part in the press conference to present the programme Agrigento Italian Capital of Culture 2025, held in Rome.
