The funerary objects of the Tomb of queen of Monte Adranone returns home after 136 years: sixteen pieces, in fact, will become part of the museum itinerary of Palazzo Panitteri in Sambuca di Sicilia, in the Agrigento area.
The regional councilor for cultural heritage Francesco Paolo Scarpinato, the director of the archaeological park of the Valley of the Temples Roberto Sciarratta, the director of the “Antonio Salinas” museum Caterina Greco and the mayor of Sambuca Giuseppe Cacioppo illustrated the museumisation of the funerary objects, which this fact is linked to the other evidence coming from the archaeological area overlooking the locality.
The finds were found in the museum's storage rooms “Antonio Salinas”, where the great archaeologist and university professor to whom the structure is named wanted to move them, realizing their value after the first excavations in 1886.
The integration into the exhibition itinerary was made possible by the collaboration between the Archaeological Park of Valley of the Temples, responsible for the valorisation of the Monte Adranone area, the Palermo museum and the municipal administration of the Agrigento city.
