Sardinia: the Region launches the call for tenders for the improvement of quality in cattle breeding.
Cagliari, 10 July 2024: Livestock farming is the flagship of the Sardinian economy.
Raising cattle in Sardinia is an ancient practice that has its roots in tradition and today, thanks to innovation, can reach qualitatively important heights. For this the Region and the department of agriculture and agro-pastoral reform, that have breeding and the welfare of farmers as a priority at the top of the sector's agenda, they focus without hesitation on supporting the sector, to be implemented through targeted interventions aimed at improving the quality of life of producers, production cycles and the final product, such as beef, precisely.
Yesterday the regional notice was published for the granting of useful contributions for the purchase of high-quality male bovine breeders and female mares, provided they are registered in the pedigree register and in the breed registers.
All the specifications and details relating to the submission of the application are available on the Region's website.
All purchases made up to November 30, 2024 and starting from July 1, 2023 will be considered eligible.
Target?
A concept deliberately reiterated: improve quality to increase the quality level and compete on the markets. “We have excellence to valorise. But to be valorised, the excellence of our agro-pastoral production must be supported. The Region is not indifferent, indeed it is very attentive to the dynamics that regulate production processes – explains the councilor Gian Franco Satta -. Giving the right value to things means betting on quality. Working with quality, producing quality meat, means improving the living standards of breeders and putting Sardinian producers in a position to compete. And to excel. This call aims to achieve this goal. We must always be able to listen, and ready to intervene effectively".
