The President of Veneto has issued regional mourning orders on the day of Giulia's funeral.
“I have given instructions so that regional mourning will be declared on the day of Giulia's funeral. We will have all the flags of the institutions at half-mast and the entire Veneto will embrace Giulia's family, friends, and all those who loved her. The pain and dismay involve, in these days, the entire Venetian community: we wonder about the reasons for a life broken without meaning, about the outrage against a girl who was a symbol for her commitment to life and for her kind smile , which we also learned about from the stories of those closest to her", communicated ithe President of the Veneto Region Luca Zaia, in the aftermath of the discovery of the lifeless body of Giulia Cecchettin.

“After these days of frantic searches, hopes and pain, we also want the declaration of regional mourning to become, in Giulia's memory, an extremely determined signal against violence against women. I therefore propose to wear not only the 25th November, date recognized as international day forelimination of gender violence, but also on the day of the funeral the red ribbon, which has become a symbol against gender violence, and to display red objects in public and private places.
