Forty-first anniversary of the killing of General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa
Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni: "Eradicate all forms of organized crime".
Il 3 September 1982 the general was killed Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, the wife Emanuela Setti Carraro andagent Domenico Russo: “The fight against the mafia involves all of Italy” Mattarella declared, adding “The forty-first anniversary of the attack in Via Isidoro Carini calls the entire country to a concerted effort in the fight against the mafia. The whole of Italian society must feel involved: the institutions, the educational agencies, the world of associations".
General Dalla Chiesa was appointed Prefect of Palermo and in 1982 he was sent to Sicily to counter the expansion of Cosa Nostra. The same year he died in a commissioned assassination. Regarding his death Giovanni Falcone declared: “In Sicily the mafia attacks the servants of the State that the State has failed to protect”.
The Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi, on the occasion of the commemorations which took place in Palermo, left a message in honor of the general recalling the importance of his figure in the history of our country. “The example of Carlo Alberto dalla Chiesa clearly indicates what choices must be made every day for the good of the country, to protect freedom and democracy” Piantedosi states in his speech.
Also present in Palermo is Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who reiterated the state's support in the fight against the mafia and the support for the victims who sacrificed themselves for the good of the country: “41 years after the brutal mafia attack that caused the death of the Carabinieri General Carlo Alberto Dalla Chiesa, his wife Emanuela Setti Carraro and the escort agent Domenico Russo, the commitment to eradicate any form of of organized crime", declared the Premier.
