Face to face between Tajani and Blinken: commitment to the reconstruction of Ukraine
Brief and cordial face to face between the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Antonio Tajani, and the American Secretary of State Antony Blinken, on the sidelines of the International Conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine which opened in London yesterday morning.
The two ministers - who represent Italy and the USA at the event - had an exchange focused entirely on the Ukrainian dossier, as ANSA learns.
Tajani reiterated in particular the Italian public and private commitment to reconstruction, underlining the importance of the Rome conference.
A basis for peace based on unity, security and democracy: this was said by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, who spoke via video link at the International Conference in London.
Rbc-Ucrana reports it. Zelensky outlined five areas where Kiev has begun to create a basis for peace. “The first is the potential for unity. The second is the potential for stability. The third is the potential for growth. The fourth is the potential for security. And the fifth, extremely important, is the potential for democracy." he has declared.
The reconstruction of Ukraine is necessary to ensure the global security, Zelensky said in a video message. “By rebuilding Ukraine we are rebuilding much more than a country, we are rebuilding the entire world for our and future generations”. And he added: “Will this process be peaceful, stable and democratic? It depends on each of us."
Meanwhile, the Ukrainian President, in an interview with the BBC, recognized that the progress of the Ukrainian counteroffensive is “slower than expected”.
“Some people believe this is a Hollywood movie and expect results now.
It is not – he added – What is at stake is people's lives”.
