On November 4th we remember the National Unity Day and the Armed Forces Day. On this occasion, the President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella sent a message to the Ministry of Defense.
“Today we celebrate National Unity Day and Armed Forces Day, an expression of the people who wanted, with the plebiscite, a united Italy. The history of the Armed Forces is inextricably intertwined with the will of the Italian people.", he wrote the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, in a message to the Minister of Defense, Guido Crosetto.
“At the beginning of the construction of the unitary state, Italy was able to count on the intervention of the soldiers of the various states of the peninsula, a work that continued during the First World War, in the fight for the integrity of the country, symbolized by the resistance on the Piave. Finally, when, after 8 September 1943, the country's independence was at risk, it was the Armed Forces and the Italian people, united in the War of Liberation, who allowed the redemption of the homeland.", explained the Italian President, highlighting how “The Italian Army, the Navy, the Air Force, the Carabinieri and the Guardia di Finanza support the protection of our free institutions and Italy's vocation to live in peace, offering a response of harmony and reliability in defense of the rights of every citizen".
“It is a feeling, which is expressed and multiplied with the valuable contribution that the Armed Forces provide to the missions of the United Nations, the European Union and NATO, making available, upon mandate from Parliament and the Government, the expertise and the dedication of the Italian soldiers", goes on Sergio Mattarella delving into international dynamics.
“The international context in which the Republic deploys its action makes their contribution more precious than ever. Soldiers, sailors, airmen, carabinieri, financiers and civilian defense personnel, your daily work is essential for the safe and peaceful future of our community and the broader international community. The Republic is grateful to you. I extend a warm greeting to all of you and your families. Long live the Armed Forces, long live Italy!”, the President concluded in the message sent in honor of the anniversary of November 4th.
