The Administration and the organizers: "A show of sport and inclusion for the city"
The “Roller Day Chieti” on October 1st in Piazza Vico.
“Roller Day” will take place on Sunday 1st October in Piazza Vico Chieti” event organized by AB Roller, in collaboration with the FISR, the patronage of the Municipality, of Anci and the active collaboration of the associations Inclusiamo, La gente d'Abruzzo and Teate Magnum and of Decathlon.
Appointment for families and cities
“It will be an event for families and the city – said the mayor Diego Ferrara and the sports councilor Manuel Pantalone – We will also dedicate planning attention to skating, because with a view to making all the municipal facilities usable, as has happened so far, we intend to redevelop the Levante facility so that skating also has a reference and the Federation can find a home, as also happened with handball which today has a federal center of excellence in the city".
A national event
“Today's event certifies closeness and support to a popular and inclusive discipline – conclude Ferrata and Pantalone – which will have space and events to share with the city in Piazza Vico from 10am to 18pm”.
“Rollerday is celebrated throughout Italy, each association does it on its territory and comes to life in all the squares of the country and this year it has a special mission: to raise awareness of “rollers” – says Fabio Di Luzio, AB Roller and FISR manager provincial – A sport known mostly as a recreational activity for children that must conquer its space as a discipline.
Athletes and performances
“Our athletes who have made important progress in recent years will be there,” explains Di Luzio. “I am satisfied with the work done and with how the city is preparing for this discipline. We hope to enter the IOC and have a home at the stadium. Levante, so that it becomes a reference in the territory".
“There will be performances by the competitive team with the champions Eva Angelucci, Emma Scalfati, Nicole Bucciarelli; but we will also allow a skate test for everyone, for children and, thanks to the collaboration with the Inclusiamo association, we will also allow those who have problems and disabilities to skate, – he concludes – this to break down any type of barrier to the practice of this discipline. We will then close with a free skate in the city center."
Towards the European City of Sport
“It is a reason for great pride to be present at the event after the agreement with the Roller Sports Federation to support the ASDs in the sector throughout Italy – adds Paolo Fazzolari, B2B Leader Abruzzo Marche and Romagna – We will be in Chieti to support the activities of the Ab Roller and start a collaboration that will hopefully lead us to the 2025 appointment for the European City of Sport".
A complex world
“When we found out about the project we immediately supported it, because disability is a very complex world, but once in synergy with sports associations it is essential to continue the path – says Anna Gloria Di Leo of the “Inclusiamo” association which deals with rare diseases and disabilities - this is because sport brings together both on a recreational and therapeutic level, entering the daily life of children who have illnesses or disabilities".
“Everyone must have the opportunity to practice sport – concludes Di Leo -, even if they have disabilities, but we must make our children understand that they can do it in another way. It would be wonderful to create synergy between associations, rehabilitation centres, sports and schools, it is important that the community knows that not only are people born disabled, but they become disabled and it is good to learn to manage themselves with the greatest possible inclusiveness".
Socialization, friendship and brotherhood
“With our associations we are dealing with disabilities and the opportunity allows us to connect this sport to the inclusion path we are following – concludes Federico Gallucci, president of the Gente d'Abruzzo and Teate Magnum associations – Sport creates synthesis and brings us closer and playing sport combines this natural competition with socialization, friendship and brotherhood, especially in this historical moment also characterized by violence on the part of young people. We hope it is the beginning of a path of inclusion of the vulnerable in everyday life."
