Chieti, the writer Laura Efrikian will receive the Majano Prize.
In Chieti culture is celebrated with the delivery of the "Anton Giulio Majano International Award” which will be delivered by the vice-mayor Paolo De Cesare. The writer Laura Efrikan will be honored by the award and for the occasion will present her book "An Armenian Family” at the Barbella Museum. The choice fell on the writer for the roles as an actress which saw her as the protagonist of some of the most important dramas directed by Anton Giulio Majano, born right in the Abruzzo city, such as “The Citadel (1964) and “David Copperfield” (1965).
The culture department of municipality of Chieti, led by the deputy mayor Paolo De Cesare, wanted to establish this award precisely to honor the director, giving prestige to the work carried out. The artistic direction was entrusted to the maestro Davide Cavuti, artistic director of the Prose Season of “Marrucino Theatre"
The book recalls the Armenian origins of Efrikan, born in Treviso 81 years ago. Her grandfather was Armenian, who then became Italian after the war. Regarding her work, the writer declared some time ago: “The bond with the Armenians as a child was that of my grandfather who called me Gaianè. With that kind name he let me enter his secret world, which I would later love so much and which would make me feel, to a large extent, Armenian and remember the genocide of those who decided that Armenia had to disappear".
