Vercelli: State Police continues its campaign against violence against women

Throughout the week the State Police of Vercelli have made maximum efforts in awareness-raising activities against all forms of violence against women, as part of the project "This is not love” and on the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, a phenomenon that is always sadly current, as well as transversal.

After the meeting, Monday 25 November, with the young students of a local school that has been working on the topic for some time, the initiative of the following 26th had a great response Piazza Cavour, where the Police Headquarters has set up, with the collaboration of the Postal Police, a information point on the topic, in conjunction with the weekly market in order to create a direct contact with citizens; a large number of men and women of different ages, social backgrounds and origins, in fact, spoke with the operators, asking them numerous questions. In this context, the contribution of the operators of the Postal Police of Vercelli was precious; in fact, in the era of social media and the "digitization of life"a close correlation is increasingly emerging between domestic violence and crimes committed using IT tools.

No less engaging were the initiatives organised by other bodies, committed on a daily basis to fight against domestic and gender violence, attended by the Police Chief of the province of Vercelli, Dr. Giuseppina Suma, and the Director of the Anti-Crime Police Division, Dr. Fiorella Colangelo: from the organized debate from the Association “Facciamo Rumore-Femme”, to the one organized by “Soroptimist International of Italy”, to conclude, in the evening of November 28th, with the meeting with the members of the “Kiwanis Club”, together for the sole purpose of spreading collective awareness on the issue and promoting the consolidation of a network between different local entities for a synergic action aimed at guaranteeing victims and recovering violent individuals.
