Vercelli: the perpetrators of thefts from commercial establishments identified and reported
In the early hours of the Wednesday morning, January 15th the Flying Squad carried out the operation in the city of Vercelli, following the order of the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Juvenile Court of Turin, two house searches against two individuals, a minor and an adult, both Italian citizens, seriously suspected of being the perpetrators of a series of night-time thefts that occurred between the month of September and today to the detriment of numerous commercial establishments in the city.
At the end of a complex investigation activity, which consisted not only in the viewing of numerous hours of footage from city video surveillance systems, but also in the carrying out of countless and burdensome observation services during the night hours in all the most affected areas of the city, the investigators of the Flying Squad identified the two individuals and were therefore able to meticulously reconstruct approximately thirty episodes of predatory acts perpetrated by them to the detriment of the entrepreneurial activities of Vercelli.
During the searches, in addition to part of the stolen goods immediately returned to the rightful owners, the police found and seized the clothes worn during the thefts by the two young men, both minors at the time of the events, for which reason the two were reported at liberty to the competent Judicial Authority.
The investigation revealed that the modus operandi used by the suspects consisted of taking advantage of the darkness to reach the targets of the raids by bicycle and then gaining access to the shop, usually by forcing a window or a secondary entrance, and then removing the cash register and anything else of value present.
Further investigations are underway to identify similar incidents that have not yet been reported to the competent authorities.
