During a targeted service, the police officers of the San Marco State Police Station they stopped 2 women di foreign nationality suspected of attempted theft to the detriment of a tourist.
The women, intercepted on the Rialto Bridge, were identified by the police while they were wandering suspiciously among the tourists and, therefore, reported to theJudicial authority for attempted theft.
Following in-depth investigations, one of the two young women was also reported for failure to comply with the mandatory expulsion order previously issued by the Quaestor of Venice.
Therefore, in the context of the fight against the phenomenon of theft with skill in the historic center, the adoption of preventive measures aimed at increasing the overall level of security of the city with respect to this specific type of crime continues.
In Januaryin fact, the Quaestor of Venice issued 17 compulsory leave papers, against individuals considered socially dangerous and burdened by numerous previous convictions for predatory crimes.
Furthermore, following police checks, an equal number of individuals, who had already been removed, were traced again in the lagoon city and were reported to the Judicial Authority for the violation of compulsory expulsion order.
La State Police, with a view to prevention, recommends all visitors and frequenters to Venice to pay particular attention in all particularly crowded places such as piers, the main Arrival and departure terminal public transport and places with the highest tourist influx, where individuals dedicated to committing crimes against property could take advantage of such situations of "confusion” to commit illegal acts.
It is equally important avoid carrying money or valuables in bags, backpacks, purses o marsupi, especially if these are worn on the shoulders, favoring internal and closed pockets instead.
