Yesterday morning, the Venice State Police supported a Special Olympics Italy event, to spread a message of peace and solidarity and the universal values ​​of sport and social inclusion.

Special Olympics Italy has organized the Special Olympics World Winter Games in Turin, from March 8 to 15, involving approximately 1500 athletes, with and without disabilities, from 102 countries. For over fifty years, the organization has been carrying out projects of social inclusion through unified sport, with the aim of valorizing people with intellectual disabilities, so that every single person is accepted and welcomed for their abilities, regardless of their disability.

On the occasion of an event as significant and important as the Turin 2025 World Winter Games, the international protocol provides for the organization of a “Community Run”, that is, the passage of the Special Olympics Torch through all the regions, in order to raise awareness among citizens throughout the national territory.

According to the LETR (Law Enforcement Torch Run) program, Special Olympics in Italy avails itself of the support of the State Police.

In this context, yesterday morning, the “Community Run” took place at the Santa Chiara headquarters of the Venice Police Headquarters., in the presence of the Deputy Chief of Police of Venice, Carlo Ferretti, the Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Venice, Andrea Tomaello, representatives of the Special Olympics Italia Team Veneto, athletes of the “Fiamme Oro” sports group of the State Police and of the Venicemarathon.

Simultaneously in each region, at 11:00, with the lighting ceremony of the Olympic torch and the greeting at the start to all the athletes present, a symbolic and shared run to approach the World Games began. The torchbearers, running through the suggestive Venetian streets, arrived in Campo della Basilica della Salute, where at 12.00:XNUMX, at the same time as the rest of the country, the lighting ceremony of the tripod took place.
