Lido di Venezia: Girl in water rescued by State Police

Following a report received by 113 on the evening of 17 October, the Venice State Police is intervened on the Lido seafront to help a young girl.

The Lagunare patrol officers immediately headed to the Lido of Venice and along the shore they managed to spotting a girl in the water in difficulty, given the particularly adverse weather conditions characterised by heavy rain, strong wind, waves and darkness.

At that point the policemen did not hesitate and thrown into the sea, managing to reach it in a short time and to rescue her and then entrust her to the care of health workers.

A story that ended happily thanks to the Lagunari Flying Squad police officers who, on this occasion too, demonstrated the importance of the role played by the State Police, as well as in the field of prevention and repression of crimes, also in that of public rescue and social proximity activities towards the citizens.

This episode adds to other relief activities provided by the State Police this year.

A last January, in fact, the crew of the Volante Lagunare had intervened near the Bridge of Sighs to help two people fell into the water, recovering both men, two tourists visiting Venice.

The Lagunare Flying Squad also intervened in the Santa Croce district, near Calle del Campanil, saving a drowning man after accidentally falling into the water.

A further public rescue operation had been carried out in recent months near the island of San Servolo, when the Flying Squad police officers were intervened to help a small boat in a state of breakdownThe boat, carrying a family of four, had been dragged by the current onto a shoal north of San Servolo.

Finally, this summer, the divers of the Venice Police Headquarters, returning from a training dive in the sea, at the height of the Bocche di Porto di Chioggia (VE), had noticed a small vessel with several people on board, including children, in obvious difficulty.

Given the serious risk that the small boat would capsize due to the strong winds and increasingly impetuous waves, the operators had proceeded to transfer all the occupants of the vessel to their dinghy.
