Mestre: Kidnaps a person and tries to obtain a ransom, arrested

In Mestre, the State Police of Venice he arrested a foreign citizen in execution of a prison order, issued by the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Ordinary Court of Bologna, having to serve a sentence of 4 years and 6 months in prison for kidnapping for the purpose of extortion.

The facts underlying the conviction, which has become definitive, date back to 2022, when the person arrested – together with two other compatriots – they allegedly broke into the victim's home in Rimini and, after having taken her by force, took her to Mestre. At this point the kidnappers allegedly contacted the victim's family, asking for a large sum as the price for her release.

The immediate investigative activity conducted by the Flying Squad of the Venice Police Headquarters had allowed to ascertain that the extortion request would have originated from the working collaboration between the victim and another compatriot, active in the online buying and selling of designer products, which, after receiving large sums of money in payment for the requested luxury products, he allegedly made himself unavailable without fulfilling the orders.

The three buyers therefore, Having made the payment for the requested valuable goods without ever having received them, they allegedly attempted to recover the money through the family of the kidnapping victim.

At the time of the events, the investigations of the police officers of the Laguna Mobile Squad, in collaboration with the equivalent offices of Rimini, Bologna and Como, involved in various ways in the same events, had allowed them to identify the house in Mestre where the victim was being held captive and to proceed with his release and the simultaneous arrest of the three foreign citizens.

Further and subsequent investigations, carried out by the Flying Squad of the Venice Police Headquarters together with the Bologna one, with the coordination of the Emilia District Anti-Mafia Directorate, have confirmed the responsibilities of the three foreign citizens in relation to the kidnapping committed.
