Vicenza, Train to Bassano: the Region announces new investments linked to high speed
Mayors Rucco and Pavan: "The two cities will be closer concretely and strategically"
Vicenza, With a view to improving the regional railway service linked to the major TAV project, the Veneto government and Trenitalia have presented an important investment which has led to the delivery of seven new trains.
Positive implications also for the Vicenza area were announced by the president Luca Zaia and his deputy Elisa De Berti, in particular regarding the connection between Vicenza and Bassano, affected by the new trains called "Pop".
A novelty welcomed with satisfaction by the mayors of the two cities.
“This good news comes at a time of great anticipation for the overall rethinking of transport in the Vicenza area – comments the mayor of Vicenza and president of the Province, Francesco Rucco – also because we are in the final stages of the upcoming construction site of the high-speed train which will cross our territories. Now for us local administrators it will be a matter of coherently accompanying the transport system with a view to facilitating it for our citizens"
“Moreover – concludes Rucco – adding the railway line to the recent motorway connection between the two cities means connecting two strategic territories that must form a system for the benefit of businesses, families and workers”.
“In the gloomy climate of the pandemic, the arrival of this news makes me particularly confident in the future of our community – adds the mayor of Bassano, Elena Pavan – because for too long Bassano has been somehow experienced as an “other” territory, sometimes even alternative to the capital city. Now, however, this choice connects Vicenza and Bassano directly without obstacles; it will be easier to develop shared projects between our local area and Vicenza. From today the capital and our city are much, much closer and this can only be good for everyone."
