Venice, Venice state police: Report on the activities of the immigration office in the first half of 2021
Venice, On Friday 10 June last, the Expulsion Section of the Immigration Office of the Venice Police Headquarters repatriated the Albanian citizen VS, born in 1979, in execution of an expulsion order ordered by the Judicial Authority of Lecce. The foreigner was taken into custody from his home in Cavarzere, where he was under house arrest and taken to Marco Polo Airport, from which he was escorted until his return to Albania. The subject was serving a 4 year and 6 month prison sentence for drug trafficking, after his arrest in 2018 by the Brindisi Financial Police who had identified and seized approximately 500 kg of marijuana on board a dinghy. .
During the first half of 2021, the Expulsion Section carried out 2 other expulsion measures, in addition to the one mentioned, repatriating two socially dangerous foreign citizens, one of whom was the recipient of an expulsion signed by the Minister of the Interior.
However, in total, there are 17 accompaniments to the detention centers for repatriations carried out in the last five months, carried out on the orders of the Police Commissioner in execution of the expulsion orders: in this way we proceed when the air carrier is unavailable for immediate repatriation or it is necessary to carry out in-depth studies necessary for complete identification.
Also in the first half of the current year there were 118 orders issued by the Police Commissioner to leave the national territory in execution of prefectural expulsion orders.
The activity of the Section of the Office which deals with the rejection of residence requests presented by socially dangerous subjects is also intense. From January to today, there have been a total of 92 rejections, of which in particular 13 were formalized against foreigners involved in illicit activities linked to drug trafficking and 12 for crimes relating to family mistreatment and persecutory acts.
When adopting rejection measures, especially if formalized towards non-EU citizens present for years on the national territory, the Police Headquarters is also required to consider any family ties present in Italy, as well as the income and employment situation. Convictions for crimes relating to the individual sphere but also reports of crime, especially if accompanied by the adoption of precautionary measures ordered by the judicial authority (such as removal from the family home) or prevention measures by the Police Commissioner (such as oral warnings or warnings) , clearly have a particular specific weight for the dangerousness judgment formulated by the Police Headquarters. Among the rejections, there are also serious and sensational cases, such as the one against OME, in 1978, responsible for the malicious murder of his wife, in the presence of his minor children, in Concordia Sagittaria, currently in prison in Pordenone in precautionary custody .
Also peculiar is the case of the Ukrainian citizen, SR, who made serious threats against his partner and mother-in-law and from whom an illegitimately possessed pistol was seized; the subject was hit by the measure of removal from the family home and ban on approaching the offended person and by a warning from the Police Commissioner, measures which led to the revocation of the residence permit he previously held and the immediate expulsion with simultaneous transfer to the Gradisca di Isonzo CPR, from which he will be repatriated once he has acquired travel documents and the authorization from the Judicial Authority.
