Veneto, tourism: Zaia states “72 million presences confirm the primacy of tourism. The South can focus on boundless prospects”.

"Tourism in Veneto continues to establish itself with record numbers and confirms itself as the pillar of our economy. Istat data tells us that also in 2023 ours was the favorite region for tourists, even among foreigners, adding up approximately 72 million presences. This is confirmation of the quality of hospitality, the richness and diversity of the artistic-cultural and naturalistic heritage, and the local food and wine traditions. I compliment our operators in the sector: Veneto knows how to intercept and reward the expectations of the contemporary traveler who willingly returns to our beaches, our mountains, to the cities of art and villages, to discover enchanting treasures and good living".

With these words the president of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, comments on the data from the Istat Report, presented yesterday, in which Veneto still asserts itself as the most touristic region in the country, located in a North-East that overall hosts more than a third of the presences in the national panorama.

"Having acknowledged, as I have been repeating for some time, that tourism can and must be the core business of the entire country, from Campione d'Italia to Canicattì, it is interesting to note how there is a territory that is relatively small but which has the maximum autonomy provided for by our constitutional system: the autonomous province of Bolzano which alone exceeds 36 million visitors. - highlights President Zaia -. It is the confirmation that an administrative decentralization aimed at efficiency and at reducing the distances between the decision-making power and the citizen, therefore also with productive activities, can be able to enhance resources and make them a driving force of activity and progress. In these terms, those that could have the greatest scope for action are the regions of the South. The flows in this area, in fact, already emerge for a growth above average compared to 2022 and, thanks to the beauty of the landscape and the cultural wealth they have, they could multiply them in boundless prospects. Certainly superior to those of the Veneto and the Northeast whose prospects, even the most optimistic, must measure themselves with a number of presences that are already full and the relative margins".
