The SATCO project, funded by the ERDF program, marks a new milestone for Veneto in the aerospace sector. With an innovative satellite constellation, the region strengthens its role in the New Space Economy, focusing on artificial intelligence and collaborations between companies and universities.

Veneto continues to emerge as a protagonist in the aerospace sector, thanks to the SATCO project, that has obtained significant funding from the ERDF programme. With the innovative development of a satellite constellation, the project marks another fundamental step towards the New Space Economy, focusing on innovation, technology and artificial intelligence. The Region, through the Regional Innovative Network AIR, consolidates its leadership role in the aerospace field, promoting collaboration between universities and excellent companies.
"We are celebrating an important milestone for the Veneto region and for the regional aerospace sector which has seen the project SATCO – Reconfigurable Cognitive Satellite wins an important ERDF tender: a confirmation of the innovative and technological capacity of our companies and universities. Thanks to the commitment of the Regional Innovative Network AIR – Aerospace Innovation and Research, composed of six excellent companies and two prestigious universities, the region is increasingly establishing itself as a protagonist in the New Space Economy, a strategic sector for the economic growth, employment and competitiveness of our territory".
With these words the president of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, comments on the result obtained by RIR AIR with the SATCO project, which obtained recognition of a contribution of almost 2 million eurosor, of which 1 is a non-repayable grant, for the development of a constellation of satellites.
"This is not just a technological record, but also a vision of the future: a constellation of satellites entirely Made in Veneto, capable of adapting to the needs of communication, Earth observation, emergency management and environmental protection, thanks to the integration with the most modern artificial intelligence technologies. – continues the President -. After the successful moon landing of the LuGRE receiver, developed by the Venetian company Qascom, this is the demonstration that theVeneto not only invests in innovation, but also knows how to work as a team, networking skills, talent and resources to face global challenges. The Region will continue to support with conviction projects of this magnitude, which strengthen our industrial and scientific leadership in the aerospace sector. A sector that is growing exponentially and whose evolution we will continue to follow with dedicated events such as Space Meetings Veneto, the event in which space becomes the protagonist together with territorial excellence".
