The President of the Region released a statement following the discovery of the body of the young Giulia Cecchettin: “Pain, horror and dismay. We are faced with a huge tragedy."

“Pain, horror and dismay. We are facing a huge tragedy. The first thoughts, and the condolences of the entire Veneto region and my own, go to the family of Giulia Cecchettin, who met a horrible end while she should have celebrated a milestone as historic as her graduation", declared the President of the Veneto Region, Luca Zaia, commenting on the discovery of the body of the young woman from the province of Venice, who disappeared with her ex-boyfriend a few days ago.

“We are faced with a story that causes enormous sadness, in the families of the two boys but also in our entire community. We hoped for Giulia's fate until the end, even though the situation became more and more complex as the days went by and the hypotheses became narrower. Now all responsibility must be fully clarified by the investigators; I am writing this message while the investigators' efforts to trace Filippo Turetta are still underway, and I hope they will soon have confirmation. My thoughts and my closeness go to the family, friends and people who love Giulia: to all those who are now experiencing, with a broken heart, an event that we would never have wanted to witness.“, continued the President of the region.
