Arezzo, tourism is linked to social inclusion with “VisitABLE”

Itinerary to discover some city places linked to films shot in Arezzo for the small and big screen, led by tourist guides supported by appropriately trained people with disabilities

Arezzo, tourism is linked to social inclusion with “VisitABLE”.

Is called “VISITABLE” and it is the first edition of an initiative which, Sunday March 6, will see the city of Arezzo protagonist of a innovative and original project that closely links tourism and social inclusion.

Born from an idea of Guide Center of Arezzo and Province which was made inclusive thanks to collaboration with the ToscanABLE Onlus Association and CTS (Territorial Support Center, new technologies and disabilities) of Arezzo, with the patronage of Municipality of Arezzo, the Arezzo Community Foundation and the Arezzo Intour Foundation, the project includes the creation of an itinerary to discover some city places linked to the films shot in Arezzo for the small and big screen, which will be led by tourist guides supported by appropriately trained people with disabilities. And so, precisely on the occasion of “International Tourist Guide Day”, on March 6th there will be two free appointments (starting at 10am and 15pm) which will move to discover “Arezzo on the small and big screen”.

Participants will be able to enjoy a unusual and fun visit during a journey through time that will retrace the main stages of some cinematographic masterpieces that have had Arezzo as an exception set: from "Life is Beautiful" a “The English Patient” up to TV series like “Fosca Innocenti” currently being programmed starring Vanessa Incontrada.

“The municipal administration and the newly created Arezzo Community Foundation – he comments Lucia Many, deputy mayor of the Municipality of Arezzo and president of the Arezzo Community Foundation – have willingly embraced this pilot project in the desire to support an initiative that concretely promotessocial inclusion. Arezzo aims to be one Cities where everyone can find answers of full inclusion and accessible tourism will be a strategic line of the Arezzo Community Foundation in collaboration with the administration and obviously with the Arezzo InTour Foundation”.

“That of accessible tourism – he underlines Simone Chierici, tourism councilor and president of Arezzo Intour Foundation – it is one of the topics that is closest to our hearts and on which we are working. We believe that hospitality and the possibility of making beauty accessible to everyone are two essential elements that qualify the value of every community. There's certainly a lot to do, but... work doesn't scare us and we are therefore happy to be able to support and contribute to the growth of initiatives like these".

"The project “VisitABLE” tries to express the concept of personal and social inclusiveness in the city of Arezzo in the field of Tourism and adds to the numerous initiatives that will be active throughout Italy during the “International Tourist Guides Day” established by the WFTGA (World Federation Tourist Guide Asociations) and promoted in Italy by ANGT (National Association of Tourist Guides)” declares Rachele Fusai, president of the Tourist Guides of Arezzo and its province.

“Tourist guides – he states Salvatore Mauro, president of the ToscanABLE Onlus Association – are the interface with those who visit the city. Structure tourist itineraries with guides that also include the active participation of people with disabilities alongside them, represents a notable improvement both in the territorial perception of social inclusion and in an effective new cultural approach.”

"The “VisitABLE” project allows the activation of new training models in the area which will contribute to raising the level of inclusion of people with disabilities in the Arezzo area. This new project is part of a series of other initiatives in which the CTS and the ITIS “G. Galilei” are involved and will allow enrich the standards of experiential methodologies and share educational and training practices in the fieldHe declares Barbara Falcone, CTS manager of Arezzo and Support Representative of the ITIS “G. Galilei” of Arezzo.
