Trieste: The sailors from Trieste Alice Linussi, Maria Vittoria Marchesini and Giovanna Micol awarded in the Salotto Azzurro of the Town Hall
Tuesday morning 28st January since Blue Lounge of the Town Hall Mayor Robert Dipiazza and the councilor whose responsibilities include Sport, Elisa Lodi, received the three sailors from Trieste who are part of the Luna Rossa crew that in 2024 won the first women's edition of the historic America's Cup regatta: Alice Linussi, Maria Vittoria Marchesini e Giovanna Micol.
Mayor Roberto Dipiazza and Councilor Elisa Lodi congratulated the athletes for having held high the name of Trieste in the world and underlined the exemplary role of sport in promoting healthy values.
With the hope of the best for their future, the athletes were then awarded the medal with the coat of arms of the Municipality of Trieste and parchment with the following wording, signed by the mayor Roberto Dipiazza: “To Alice Linussi, Maria Vittoria Marchesini, Giovanna Micol, with heartfelt congratulations and great respect for the important contribution made to the victory of Luna Rossa in the Women's America's Cup 2024".
