Trieste: checks to ensure safety in the city, the January 2025 report

"In the month of January, the Special Interventions Unit of our Local Police worked aiming for maximum presence on the city territory“, reports theCouncilor for Citizen Security Policies Caterina de Gavardo"In this sense, several activities have been carried out, including 16 control and surveillance services in the Barriera Vecchia area, which has received attention following recent news events, 8 targeted services during the city markets, for the prevention and contrast of illegal activities and 6 High Impact interventions, coordinated by the Police Headquarters, in various areas established from time to time to guarantee safety.".

As regards criminal activities, 3 people have been reported to the Judicial Authority:

1. a person arrested for committing a robbery, wearing items of clothing without paying for them and pushing a security guard, inside a shop in the centre, an intervention carried out together with personnel from the First District;
2. a person reported for having emptied fire extinguishers on vehicles parked inside the Silos parking lot;
3. a person reported on 3 different occasions, in the areas of largo Barriera, via San Francesco and via Coroneo, for failure to comply with the order to leave and for having urinated inside a supermarket in front of numerous customers.

The business also recorded some fines for obvious drunkenness: as many as 6 episodes occurred mainly in largo Barriera, piazza Dalmazia, piazza Goldoni and via San Francesco. The fight against this phenomenon continues to be a priority to ensure decorum and safety in urban areas. Furthermore, in one case, the prefectural order of removal from red zone 3 was applied.

In addition to criminal sanctions, several administrative violations were imposed:

• 1 violation of L. 3/03 for smoking inside the Largo Santos bus station;
• 2 violations of LR 20/12, one of which for a dog without a leash in the Giants' Staircase and one in via Boccaccio for mishandling of an animal;
• 35 violations of the Urban Police Regulations, of which: 25 fines for harassing begging, with the seizure of the proceeds in 5 cases, mainly in pedestrian areas and central streets; 1 fine for indicating parking in Piazzale Straulino and Rode; 9 fines for bivouacking in various areas of the city.

Following the administrative violations, 31 warnings were notified to cease the illicit activity with relative removal and 2 warnings for failure to comply with the removal itself; finally, a man was notified of the Dacur of the Police Chief on all the Rive, until July, for not having respected the removal order several times.
