Trieste: border controls continue, two Romanian citizens arrested

The checks at the border crossings carried out by the Carabinieri of the Provincial Command of Trieste continue incessantly, with the aim of tracking down those who may be arrested and identifying people.

In recent days, the soldiers of the Aurisina Company arrested, in two separate checks, two Romanian citizens who were the recipients of two arrest warrants issued by Italy and Romania.

In the first case the Carabinieri of the Villa Opicina Station have A 48-year-old Romanian woman was identified near the Italian-Slovenian border crossing of Fernetti while she was trying to return to her homeland, recipient of a prison order issued last December by the Attorney General's Office of the Court of Appeal of Genoa Criminal Enforcement Office, following an accumulation of sentences for crimes committed in 2021 in Sanremo. In the city of flowers the woman was responsible for thefts, sometimes even robberies, accumulating a sentence of 6 years 1 month and 17 days which she will now have to serve in the Trieste prison where she was taken.

In the second case, still near the Fernetti border crossing, a patrol of the Aurisina Operational and Radiomobile Unit stopped a 33-year-old man on board a car, who, thanks to in-depth investigations, was found to be the recipient of a European arrest warrant issued by his country of origin. He had in fact been wanted in Romania since July 2023 for the crime of driving without a license and while intoxicated committed in April 2022. He was also placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority at the prison of Trieste.
