Trieste: Carabinieri drug checks in schools

The Carabinieri have always been committed to preventing and combating drug dealing and consumption, especially among young people. In recent years, in addition to the meetings held by the Provincial Command of Trieste in the city's schools, the commitment of the force has also been demonstrated with targeted checks directly in schools, aimed at protecting the health and safety of students.

This morning the Carabinieri of the Trieste Company Command via Hermet, together with a unit of the Carabinieri Canine Unit of Torreglia (Padua) accompanied by a splendid specimen of German Shepherd named Garwin, went to the ISIS Da Vinci – Carli – Sandrinelli. There, to the surprise of the students, they carried out checks upon entry into the institute and in some common areas of the complex and Garwin, trained to sniff out the presence of narcotic substances, began his “work” accompanied by his carabiniere handler. The operation was unsuccessful.

The main objective of these actions is not only repressive, but above all preventive and educational. It is important to underline that these controls are carried out with respect for the children, in collaboration with the educational institutions and with the aim of promoting a culture of legality.
