"In 2024 our museums recorded 815 thousand visitors“, declared Councillor Giorgio Rossi"This is the record of records, influenced by some events including major exhibitions. It should be noted, however, that all museums, and not only those that hosted major exhibitions, had a positive evolution in the number of visitors. This happened because all the museums in Trieste are attractive. The Natural History Museum, destined for a future relocation next to the Maritime Museum in Warehouse 26 of Porto Vecchio-Porto Vivo, is a significant example of this trend. I compliment with admiration the culture and passion with which the experts of the Municipality of Trieste work".

Also this year the Scientific Museums of Trieste propose “You learn by walking“: the program includes a total of 19 events, including 15 conferences in nature and four guided visits to the city's museum heritage.

The 15 open-air conferences are scheduled from February to December, always reachable by public transport, some also without barriers for those with motor or intellectual disabilities, usually on Saturday afternoons, with an average duration of three to four hours.

In detail, the following will take place: three walks in Basovizza, between wolves, geology and insects; four walks through the city of Trieste, speaking of the ancient salt pans, of the museum complex of Porto Vecchio-Porto Vivo, of the fossils that can be seen in San Giusto and of the beautiful urban forest of Boschetto; two exits in Muggia, one of which is a hill fort and necropolis of Elleri and one on the hills. In Muggia (San Bartolomeo) and Trieste (Grignano) there are also two sea-watching trips for swimmers. Three further events are dedicated to dinosaurs: two at the Villaggio del Pescatore site (exceptionally open to all thanks to the availability of the owner of the area, Mario Sartori di Borgoricco), and one in Trebiciano, where we will talk about fossils and the extinction of dinosaurs by going through rocks that record this event: the exit will be accessible to all, guided by people with intellectual disabilities and curated by Anffas with the help of simplified texts.

Four meetings are also planned at the Civic Museum of Natural History (via dei Tominz 4): a visit on female zoology, on March 8, for Women's Day; three visits in December dedicated to the evolution of man, animals in winter and the Insect Room, one of which with a cast laboratory for children.

The next meeting will be on February 22nd in Basovizza with “Cry wolf, cry wolf! Coexistence between fables, economics and zoology”, a conference by the zoologist curator of the Natural History Museum Nicola Bressi (meeting at 14.45 pm in the dirt parking lot on via Kosovel in Basovizza, where the Sentiero Ressel begins, reachable by bus 51 and 39/, and departure at 15 pm).

The complete list of events is available at this link.
