On the afternoon of Saturday 26 October the institutional celebrations of the Municipality for the Seventieth anniversary of the return of Trieste to Italy continued with concerts of the Fanfares, parade of the Tricolour flag along a hundred metres supported by the Historical Reenactment of the Rome-Trieste Relay, lighting of the Tripod and laying of wreaths. They ended with the official flag-lowering ceremony.
The highest city authorities, the Armed Forces and the Police, the Banners of the combatant associations were present, and in the early afternoon the meeting took place in the City Council Hall. concert of the Fanfare of the Cavalry Brigade "Pozzuolo del Friuli", led by Sergeant Major Cosimo TaurisanoThe concert was preceded by greetings from the mayor Robert Dipiazza, of the President of the City Council Francis Panteca, of the president of the National League Paolo Sardos Albertini and from the historical testimony of Mr. Frank Island, first Italian soldier to enter Trieste on 26 October 1954.
At the same time, the Redipuglia Military Shrine (Municipality of Fogliano Redipuglia) started Historical reenactment of the Rome-Trieste Relay 2004-2024, organized by the ASD Gruppo Sportivo San Giacomo in co-organization with the Municipality of Trieste. The Rome-Trieste Relay took place twenty years ago on the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of the second redemption of Trieste: on Saturday the athletes celebrated retraced the last stretch from the Redipuglia Military Shrine to Trieste.
The route of the Relay was escorted by patrols of the Armed Forces, the Law Enforcement, the Local Police and accompanied by the Fanfare of the National Bersaglieri Association, “San Donà di Piave” section.
After laying a wreath at the Shrine in the early afternoon, the athletes continued on to stop at the patriotic monuments in the municipalities of Monfalcone and Duino Aurisina. They then paraded with the large Tricolour from the central station of Trieste along the city's banks.
On the portion of the city banks in front of Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia, near Molo Audace (where there is the monument that commemorates the landing of the Bersaglieri on 3 November 1918), in the presence of the mayor Robert Dipiazza and the representative of the Regional Council Pierpaolo Roberti, Was the tripod is turned on and it was a wreath was laid for the fallen.

The music of the flag-lowering ceremony was provided by the Fanfare of the Cavalry Brigade "Pozzuolo del Friuli".
Once the ceremony was concluded, the Bersaglieri Band “San Donà di Piave” dedicated the following to the square: a musical performance for the citizens.
The institutional celebrations of the Municipality of Trieste began on Saturday morning in the same Piazza dell'Unità d'Italia.
