Trapani: extraordinary prevention and control services of the territory

The extraordinary services arranged within the Committee for Public Order and Security continue in the capital and in the province in agreement with the heads of the Police Forces and the Mayors of the area.

In January 2025, the Police Forces carried out 48 services that involved, in the Capital, the Historic Center and in the province, the municipalities of Alcamo, Castellammare del Golfo, Erice, Marsala, Mazara del Vallo and Salemi. 4.764 checks were carried out on people subject to judicial obligations and 32 people were reported to the Prefecture for personal use of narcotic substances. In January, the Drug Addiction Operations Unit of the Prefecture carried out 14 interviews and notified 21 summonses, issuing 18 sanctioning measures and 12 formal invitations, in response to 60 reports.

With reference to violations of the Highway Code, in the month of January, 485 violations were detected, of which 12 for speeding, 10 for drunk driving, 4 for driving under the influence of drugs, 69 for driving with expired insurance, 15 for using radiotelephone devices while driving, 11 for driving without wearing a helmet, 8 for driving without seat belts and 157 for driving with a vehicle without an MOT, as well as 24 accidents. Administrative seizures of vehicles for violation of the Highway Code, in the month of January, were 6 for driving under the influence of drunk driving or drugs, 51 for driving without insurance, 7 for driving with expired insurance and 9 for other reasons.

In the same period thePrefecture Patent Office issued a total of 62 suspension orders, of which 12 for driving under the influence of alcohol, 3 for driving under the influence of narcotics and 23 for other violations of the Highway Code. In particular, it is worth noting the significant impact of suspensions for using telephones or other devices while driving (24 orders) and the absence of suspensions of driving licences for speeding.

Within the scope of the administrative activity of this Prefecture, 2 measures have been adopted to reject requests for registration in the list of suppliers of goods, service providers and contractors, the so-called White List, and 8 warnings of interdiction are in progress.

The Trapani Labor Inspectorate Unit of the Carabinieri Command for Labor Protection, during the month of January, subjected 9 companies to surveillance/inspection, 4 of which were found to be irregular. The sectors of activity of the companies inspected that were found to be irregular are 1 in agriculture and 3 in commerce. The people who were reported to the Judicial Authority, in matters of hygiene and safety in the workplace in irregular companies, were 1. It should be noted that in the same month the Unit intervened together with personnel from the S.Pre.SAL of Trapani following the accident of 1 worker that occurred in the construction sector.

As part of the “high impact” urban prevention and safety initiatives, at the Committee for Public Order and Safety, the intensification, on a weekly basis, of the extraordinary "inter-force" services was ordered in the urban contexts considered most sensitive and identified also with the Mayors of the Municipalities involved - starting from the so-called drug dealing areas - with the effect of deterrence and repression of criminal conduct and for the timely identification of the perpetrators of episodes of petty crime.

In the course of extraordinary services carried out in Marsala over the weekends, 342 people were checked, of which 20 tested positive for SDI, 25 non-EU citizens. There were 22 checkpoints, 131 vehicles checked, 12 traffic violations issued, 3 administrative seizures and 2 driving licenses withdrawn.

The operation conducted by the State Police on 21 January last, which allowed the identification and tracing of The person responsible for the attack that took place on January 11th near a club in the historic center of Marsala has been arrested and the operation by the Carabinieri which on 31 January led to the arrest in flagrante delicto for illegal possession of weapons and narcotics for the purpose of dealing of two individuals who were responsible for an attempted murder last 21 January.

During the past month of January 2025, 2 DASPO (ban on access to sporting events) and 6 DACUR (ban on access to urban areas) were issued by the Police Commissioner. 9 rejections and 9 expulsions were also carried out by order of the Police Commissioner and 62 expulsions by the Territorial Commission for Asylum Seekers.
