A 100km-long stampede begins in Misiliscemi: an elderly man catches thieves in his home and calls 112.

It all started on a quiet Saturday day in Mix me, in the province of Trapani. An elderly resident, suspicious of noises coming from his home, surprised five men intent on forcing the front door. The man promptly raised the alarm by contacting the Unique Emergency Number 112, starting a massive joint operation by the Carabinieri.

Arrived near Alcamo, they tried to ramming a Carabinieri patrol, in an attempt to continue the escape. The chase extended to Balestrate and finally a Monreale, where the Local Carabinieri Company, managing to stop the vehicle and block three of the five occupants, including a minor.

An arrest was also made in Palermo, thanks to helicopter support.

Two men managed to escape on foot, but thanks to the use of a helicopter of the 9th Carabinieri Helicopter Unit of Palermo, research has intensified, allowing us to track down one of the fugitives in Palermo, thanks to the work of the Mobile Radio Unit of the Sicilian capital.

At the moment, only one man is still on the run, while the searches coordinated by the Provincial Commands of Trapani and Palermo.

Stolen goods, cash, and valuables: the results of the search

During the personal and vehicle searches, the Carabinieri found 960 euros in cash e gold jewelery, considered proceeds of previous thefts.

Furthermore, they were Counterfeit light and sound devices seized, mounted on the vehicle to simulate emergency cars and make the escape more effective.

Charged crimes and measures: three arrests and one complaint

The arrested individuals were charged with serious crimes:

  • Attempted burglary
  • Resistance to a public official
  • Prescription
  • Possession of counterfeit trademarks

I three adults arrested were transferred to the “Pagliarelli” prison in Palermo, waiting for validation of the arrest.
