Major drug operation in the Trapani area: arrests, searches, and the seizure of 222 grams of narcotics.

A vast and complex major anti-drug operation was conducted in recent days by the officers of the Trapani Flying Squad and from Marsala Police Station, coordinated by District Anti-Mafia Directorate of Palermo. On behalf of the DDA, the police carried out aprecautionary order issued by the investigating judge of the Sicilian capital against 27 investigated, accused of criminal association for the purpose of drug trafficking, with the aggravating circumstance of having acted to facilitate the local mafia gang.

As part of the operation, the following were carried out: about 20 searches delegated by the District Attorney's Office, distributed among Trapani, Marsala, and Mazara del Vallo, at the expense of other subjects involved in the activity of drug trafficking. During one of these searches, the investigators of the Marsala Police Station they identified, in an apartment of the Old Town of the city — believed base of operation of the criminal group — a significant amount of cannabinoid-type narcotics.
