Favignana, illegal hotel structure discovered: fine of over 5 thousand euros

The NAS carried out a series of checks on commercial activities present on the Egadi islands, and discovered a hotel structure that was not in order and failure to comply with hygiene requirements. The owner was fined over 5 thousand euros and over a thousand euros by the Port Authority for failure to prepare rescue measures for swimmers.

In the context of operational strategy “Quiet Summer 2024” in course throughout the national territory, the Carabinieri of the Anti-adulteration and Health Unit (NAS) by Palermo, with the support of the soldiers of the Favignana Carabinieri Station, they carried out a series of checks on commercial activities present in the Egadi islands.

Following the inspections, measures were taken against a hospitality business on the island both at which failure to comply with hygiene requirements and non-compliance would have been found to a precedent provision given by the ASP (Public personal service companies) as well as the incorrect implementation of self-control procedures based on the principles of the HACCP system (Hazard analysis and critical control points). To the administrative fines of over 5 thousand euros were imposed on the owner of the business.

Contextually the ASP has issued a suspension order to the structure of the kitchen and food storage activities due to the critical issues encountered while the Port Authority raised a fine of over a thousand euros for the failure to prepare rescue measures for swimmers.
