La Spezia: Pact for the implementation of urban security. Municipality and Prefecture together to prevent and combat crime

La Prefecture of La Spezia and Municipality of La Spezia have signed the Pact for the implementation of urban security, an agreement aimed at improving the safety of the territory through coordinated actions between the State Police Forces and Local Police.

Il Pact, after being approved by the Ministry of the Interior, was signed from the Prefect of La Spezia Andrea Cantadori and by the Mayor of La Spezia Pierluigi Peracchini.

The document aims to prevent and combat widespread crime and predatory through proximity services and interventions, as well as through the installation of video surveillance systems

Il Mayor he stated that “In recent years, as a Municipal Administration, we have worked to ensure that the Local Police Corps makes ever greater use of the most modern technologies to support urban safety.

The renewal of this agreement with the Prefecture, already signed in 2022, will allow the installation of a further 7 new access points to the city controlled by cameras with Optical Character Recognition technology for license plate reading, with the aim of intensifying the control of sensitive areas.

An agreement that consolidates the collaboration with the Prefecture, the Police Forces and the Local Police, to develop common strategies aimed at combating illegality and promoting respect for urban decorum”.

To achieve these objectives, the parties identify the implementation of the following as a priority objective: municipal video surveillance systems to complete the coverage of all the axes of penetration into the city centre.

  • Bertone Street – Fontevivo Street
  • Sarzana Street – Gavatro Street
  • Via del Molo (Alinò Inn)
  • Viale San Bartolomeo – Via Fossamastra
  • Motorway junction (Lerici Porto)
  • Via Sarzana loc. Termo

The project, developed in compliance with the provisions of the Guarantor for the protection of personal data, was positively evaluated by the Provincial Committee for Public Order and Security chaired by the Prefect, as consistent with the directives of the Ministry of the Interior on the matter.

To monitor the implementation status of the Pact, a Control Room at the Prefecture, with representatives of the Police Forces and the Local Police.

This agreement represents a significant step towards improving urban safety and security. collaboration between various law enforcement agencies to ensure an ever higher level of safety in the municipal area.
