La Spezia hosts the tenth edition of the Run for Children and the eighth edition of the Dog for Children.
Sunday 1st December at 10,30 am will be held the Run for Children, the now traditional semi-competitive running event organized by the SPEZIA MARATHON DLF amateur sports association in collaboration with the Municipality of La Spezia, whose proceeds will be donated to the Pediatrics Department of the Sant'Andrea Hospital in La Spezia. Together with the Run For Children you can also run with four-legged friends at Dog for Children now in its eighth edition.
The event was presented yesterday morning at a press conference by Mayor of La Spezia Pierluigi Peracchini, Councilor for Sport Alberto Giarelli and Andrea Salerno President of Spezia Marathon DLF. Also present at the conference were Dr. Laura de Hoffer of the pediatrics department of S. Andrea and Catalin Cucu Operations Director and Board Member of Kruk Italia (main sponsor).
The Mayor of La Spezia Pierluigi Peracchini declares: "The Run for Children and the Dog For Children, scheduled for Sunday, are two special events that demonstrate the great sensitivity of the La Spezia community towards those who need help. La Spezia is preparing to experience another intense day, in which sport and solidarity come together to support the Pediatrics department of the Sant'Andrea Hospital. It is an opportunity to remember how important it is to practice physical activity and at the same time, lend a hand to others, with particular attention to the new generations. We are proud to promote this event, because sport, when combined with solidarity, becomes an extraordinary engine for the common good."
The race will start from Largo Fiorillo and is divided into two modes: “non-competitive”, in which everyone can participate and “competitive” race which is included in the national Fidal calendar and is valid as the regional absolute 5KM road championship.
The race will start from Largo Fiorillo towards Molo Italia and then travel along Passeggiata Morin towards Porto Mirabello, which will be run inside it before returning to Molo Italia where the foot race will end. An event that combines sport and solidarity because all proceeds will be donated to the pediatrics and neonatology department of the “S. Andrea” Civil Hospital in La Spezia.
Europa Park has made available 100 free parking passes under Piazza Europa for those registered for the race, who will therefore be able to park for free.
