Sassari: Local Police arrests the person responsible for two aggravated robberies committed in the historic center

On Saturday evening, the officers who guard the area of ​​Piazza Castello, where a mobile local police station is present every day, were met by the owner of a local business on Via Università.

The man, visibly terrified, reported that a few moments before a hooded man had entered his shop and, after having pointed a knife at one of his co-workers who was at the checkout at that moment, he had ordered the latter to hand over the day's takings to him.

The criminal, collected just over 100 euro, had fled.

The neighborhood officers immediately alerted the urban security unit which Investigative activity started; both the owner and the employee of the robbed grocery store were interviewed, and all the information necessary to continue the investigation and find the perpetrator of the crime was acquired.

It was learned that the day before it had been a robbery was carried out with mirrored methods in another grocery store, also located in the historic center: in this circumstance, the robber had one hundred and fifty euros in his possession.

At the same time, a dense surveillance activity was arranged both in the historical center and in the places where there are businesses with characteristics similar to those robbed by the criminal, but also in the places frequented by drug addicts.

At 21,00 pm, while the agents of the urban security unit were driving a decoy car along Via Roma in one of the places under surveillance, they spotted a young man who exactly matched the description of the person they were looking for and which was stationed a short distance from a minimarket.

The officers, believing they had identified the perpetrator of the robbery, decided to "attenzionare” the man. The young man, after waiting for the right moment to enter the shop, believing he would not be noticed, wearing a balaclava and a hood, he broke into the local business: as soon as you reach the checkout the man pointed the knife at the shopkeeper who, terrified, rushed into the street while the officers entered the premises; seeing himself discovered, the young man clumsily tried to hide the knife under his jacket, but was immediately blocked, disarmed and arrested. The timeliness of the agents allowed for intervention before the latter was able to withdraw the proceeds.

The young man, by order of the judicial authority, was arrested for aggravated robberies and transferred by the agents to the Bancali penitentiary institute where the preliminary hearing will be held in the next few days. Investigations are underway into the third robbery of the day before.
