The challenges are closed in 41 municipalities.

They instead open in Sicily and Sardinia. The vote on Sunday and Monday, 28 and 29 May from 7am to 23pm and the following day from 7am to 15pm is a crossroads of polls focused on local challenges, but which, if we connect the dots, can show a national profile.
All eyes therefore on the ballots in 41 municipalities, with the smost important fides in Ancona, the only regional capital, Pisa, Brindisi, Massa and Siena, Terni, Vicenza.

In the capital of the Marche region, the centre-right has bet on a turnaround in the city from the beginning. In the first round the candidate Daniel Silvetti he didn't go too far, receiving 45% of the votes and trailing the opposing candidate, the outgoing councilor Ida Simonella, by four points, who stopped at 41,3%.

A Pisa the outgoing mayor Michele Conti, supported by the center-right and three civic lists, challenges Paolo Martinelli, candidate of the centre-left and Five Star Movement. In the first round Conti came close to winning, stopping at 49,96% while his challenger obtained 41,1%.
In Siena the challenge is between two women: in the first round Nicoletta Fabio of the centre-right obtained 30,5% and Anna Ferretti, of the centre-left 28,8%. The vote of the civic lists will be decisive, the most important obtained over 22%. And the two candidates have not created any similarities.

Meanwhile, on the two largest islands, voting is for the first round. The most important municipalities, above 15 thousand inhabitants, who go to vote are almost all in Sicily. There are in fact 15 challenges that exceed this threshold, with the most important battles certainly in Catania, Ragusa, Trapani and Syracuse.
In the Etna capital, led by a commissioner, 7 candidates are facing off: the centre-right united in support of Enrico Tarantino, while PD and m5s have joined forces in support of Maurizio Caserta.
The electoral round was more contained than in Sicily of Sardinia, where There are 39 municipalities that will go to vote. Only two of these exceed 15 thousand inhabitants. These are Assemini (Cagliari) and Iglesias (Southern Sardinia). In both cases three candidates compete.

Any runoffs for Sardinia and Sicily will take place on Sunday 11th and Monday 12th June.
