The MedOr Project is underway: “Foundation for Italy”, teaming up in the interest of the Nation

It took place in Palazzo Chigiin Green Room, the inaugural meeting of the Strategic Committee of the new MedOr Project of the Meloni Government, which sees the transformation of the Leonardo Foundation into 'Foundation for Italy' with the aim of working together in the interest of the Nation. The MedOr Foundation has strengthened its mission through the direct involvement of the most important companies owned by the Italian State (Cdp, Enel, Eni, Fs, Fincantieri, Poste Italiane, Snam, and Terna) in order to play an increasingly proactive role in supporting Italy's soft power.

The Strategic Committee which was established yesterday – during a meeting chaired by the Undersecretary to the Presidency of the Council Alfredo Mantovano and attended by the top management of the companies, the President of the Foundation Marco Minniti, as well as the representatives of the Ministries of the CISR – represents a unique event in the Italian institutional panorama. A space in which to carry out, in a structured and safe way, an exchange of information, assessments and experiences through some of the main protagonists of the geo-economic dimension of the Nation, which constitutes the essential prerequisite for developing a strategic vision that is truly shared.

The Committee will also play a valuable role in supporting the Mattei plan. The MedOr Foundation itself had already been included in the Control Room of the Plan precisely to contribute with its analyses to the decision-making process of Italy's new approach towards the African continent.

In detail, among other purposes, the Foundation aims to: to combine the skills and capabilities of industry with academia and trigger public-private synergies to promote and support – in agreement with the Farnesina – the creation of geo-economic and socio-cultural partnerships with the states of the wider Mediterranean, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle and Far East, South America; to promote initiatives and projects in sectors with high geographical and operational interconnection capacity, with particular reference to logistics, including integrated logistics, transport services, and any other activity for the enhancement of physical, technological and digital networks; to be a point of connection and synthesis for the development of structural programmes in the sectors education and training, security, energy and infrastructure, health and agriculture; to promote and relaunch constructive dialogue between nations, cultures and economic systems with the aim of allowing Italy to express the best of its skills.
