The Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani presided yesterday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs la Third meeting of the “Table on Italian companies in Russia”, dedicated to protecting the interests of our business sector in the country in light of the current complex situation.

Among the topics covered, the banking and customs sector with respect to the sanctions framework; the effective implementation of sanctions to avoid distorting effects on the Italian economy; the authorizations issued in derogation by the individual competent national Authorities, which allow the export/import of goods otherwise sanctioned where certain conditions are met. The round table with business and banking associations and companies was followed by an exchange of views with institutional counterparts, aimed at providing clarifications and reassurances on the protection of the legitimate interests of Italian citizens and companies operating in the Russian Federation.

“The Government is following the evolution of the situation in the Russian Federation with the utmost attention, to protect the legitimate interests of our companies, which operate in compliance with the sanctions framework currently in force” he commented Tajani, pointing out the commitment of the entire Italian system aimed at providing concrete answers and assistance through increasingly intense teamwork between institutions and economic operators.

The table organized by the Farnesina, met for the third time since May this year, also saw the participation of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Business and Made in Italy, Confindustria, ICE Agency, Bank of Italy, Customs and Monopolies Agency and representatives of the main Italian companies with significant investments in the Federation, as well as trade associations and companies representing production sectors particularly exposed to the Russian market.
