State Police and “Sapienza” University of Rome united for road safety

The agreement was signed on May 28th in Rome at the Central Directorate of the Highway and Railway Police and for the Special Departments of the State Police, Memorandum of Understanding between the State Police and the “Sapienza” University of Rome, aimed at improving safety levels on Italian roads and reducing accidents.

The agreement, signed by Central Director of the Specialties of the State Police Prefect Renato Cortese and Prof. Francesco Napolitano, Director of the Department of Civil, Building and Environmental Engineering at Sapienza University of Rome aims to unite the skills and resources of two key institutions such as the Traffic Police, which represents excellence in the prevention and fight against the phenomenon of accidents and in the protection of road safety, and Sapienza University of Rome, one of the most prestigious Italian universities with a strong tradition in the field of engineering.

The agreement aims to develop forms of collaboration for synergistic actions in the sectors of training, information, road education and prevention of road accidents, aimed at students and the academic community Sapienza DICEA, with particular attention to the development of educational programs aimed at future engineers, for whom the understanding of the various aspects of road safety could constitute a strategic knowledge asset for the research and design of increasingly safe infrastructures and the implementation of safety systems increasingly effective road systems for reducing accidents.
