Rome, safe suburbs: the security strategy for the jubilee and drug seizures.
The first results of the safety plan for the protection of the Jubilee year show the fruits of the effort of the State Police in the extraordinary activity of wide-ranging control, leading to significant returns also in terms of general safety.
In fact, it is the second “circle of protection” – that of the periphery – to be active for about three months. It follows the one that intersects the access points to the Capital at the main logistics hubs (airports, ports, stations, motorways and toll booths). Here, at dawn on Christmas Eve, the increase in safety standards was triggered in conjunction with personalized devices in areas considered particularly sensitive due to the presence of pilgrims and tourists.
The one put in place by Rome police headquarters It is a wide-ranging plan that aims to ensure the safeguarding of places and people , prevention of criminal actionsThe objective is recalled by the keywords: “welcome, courtesy and rigor” enclosed in the order signed by the Police Commissioner. With a multilevel approach, the plan combines security and hospitality.
in suburbs of the capital, this daily approach has been in place for months, with regular checks that have seen the coordinated use of law enforcement. A path has been drawn up peripheral artery mapping of the city, which led to 45 planned interventions that allowed the dismantling of various drug dealing networks between the eastern and western quadrants of the Capital: from raids to Tor Bella Monaco, Quarticciolo and Corvial, up to the joint patrols organized in the areas of San Basilio, The noodles e Springvalley.
More than 150 arrests, over 200 complaints and a total of 40.000 grams of narcotic substance seized, including hashish, cocaine and crack. In particular, 21.000 grams were seized in the last operation at Quarticciolo e 8.800 grams in Tor Bella Monaca.
The work of trapping the drug dealers was a daily one, also based on a relationship of trust and active collaboration with citizens, who have sent reports via the application YouPol of the State Police. The reports concerned the constant coming and going of drug addicts who, in some cases, had chosen to operate near educational establishments to intercept younger buyers.
Thanks also to the numerous reports, 350 pushers have ended up in the sights of the agents, between arrests and reports. From micro-dealing to broader activities, some drug dealers have distinguished themselves for creativity: from the “couriers” who transported hashish in blocks “branded” with a well-known confectionery brand, up to the “Santa Claus” by San Basilio, who traded blocks of drugs with the image of Santa Claus in exchange for money.
