Rome: Puppies stolen from Muratella kennel, Ferraro accuses and asks for greater vigilance

Il theft of two puppies from the kennel of Muratella shakes the capital. A gesture defined as "serious and with specific responsibilities” from the Capitoline councilor Rocco Ferraro, delegate for animal protection for the Metropolitan City. Ferraro has requested an urgent intervention by the Environment Commission for clarify the gaps in the facility's security measures. While the police and the judiciary are being urged to intervene quickly, the aim is to strengthen supervision in municipal shelters to prevent similar episodes in the future.

“What happened at the Muratella dog shelter, the theft of two puppies that were due to be put up for adoption shortly, is a very serious act, which has very specific responsibilities. – states the Capitoline councilor and delegate for animal protection for the Metropolitan City Rocco Ferraro – I urgently requested the President of the Environment Commission Palmieri to summon the manager of the facility to obtain clarifications regarding the safety and control standards present in the shelter kennel. It is urgent to address the issue of safety within municipal facilities with more determination, I want to thank the Guarantor Patrizia Prestipino and Councilor Alfonsi because in the past weeks we had already addressed the problem finding a solution by proposing the institution of daytime surveillance in the facilities, an act that will be activated in the coming weeks, it is however evident that it is necessary to increase this surveillance to ensure that similar episodes can never be repeated.

It is inconceivable to think that anyone can enter the facilities and kidnap the small and innocent guests present; I remind you that it is the obligation of the manager, by service contract, to guarantee the presence, even at night, of two permanent operators in the kennel. We will ask the Commission to account for all this and we will also have to discuss what actions the manager intends to implement to guarantee greater protection for the guests of the kennel.
We invite the police and the judiciary to intervene as soon as possible in the hope of never having to hear terrible news like that of last night again and hoping that everything will be resolved in the best possible way", he concludes. Ferraro.
