Rome, the State Police issues precautionary measure against a 48-year-old for mistreatment in the family, sexual violence and personal injury

State Police officers of the 10th District "Lido di Roma", at the end of a delicate and difficult investigative activity, coordinated by the Rome Public Prosecutor's Office, they executed an order implementing the precautionary custody in prison, issued by the GIP of the Court of Rome, against a forty-eight-year-old Sri Lankan, seriously suspected of the crime of mistreatment within the family, sexual violence and personal injury.

The investigation into the 48-year-old was triggered by the statements of his wife who, in the complaint, said that she had been systematically subjected to psychological and physical harassment for some time.. The woman had been the victim of daily abusive behavior for a long time, to the point of being forced by her husband, even in the presence of their children, to have intimate relations with other men and taking pleasure in watching; furthermore, if she had refused, he would have beaten her with kicks and punches as he was accustomed to doing.

Between 2015 and 2019, the man induced his wife to terminate several pregnancies if the fetus was female because, according to his culture, it was a bad omen.; the woman said that, on several occasions, her husband beat her using not only his hands but also the handle of a broom and that he often threatened to kill her if she had contact with her family of origin.

For these reasons, the precautionary measure of prison was ordered for the forty-eight-year-old and he was taken to the Regina Coeli prison.
