Rome: Oath of the Carabinieri Students of the 143rd Training Course
On the morning of December 2nd, at the Barracks “Cap. MOVM Orlando De Tommaso” of Rome, in the presence of the General Commander, Gen. CA Salvatore Luongo, the ceremony took place Solemn Oath and awarding of the “Alamari” to the Carabinieri Students of the 143rd Training Course, entitled to the Carabiniere MOVM to memory Dominic Bondi.
In the presence of the War Flag of the Carabinieri 321 Students they swore allegiance to the Republic and the Constitution and, in keeping with a long and evocative tradition, they experienced the touching moment of the placing of the epaulettes, by family members or loved ones, on the “tailcoats” of the Great Special Uniform, while in the background the formula echoed: “In the name of an ancient tradition I entrust you with the frogs, the sacred symbol of every Carabiniere. Wear them with honor, pride and an unconditional sense of duty, mindful of the silent and often supreme sacrifices of those who preceded you and as an example for those who will follow you. Keep alive and unshakeable the ideals of rectitude and honesty that they represent, continuing with firmness, humanity and high professionalism the commitments undertaken with the oath of loyalty to the Fatherland. Good luck, then, and remember that with perseverance and iron determination no obstacle is insurmountable".
To the students classified in first 6 places in the training course ranking, the epaulettes were affixed by the General Commander of the Carabinieri, by Attorney Daniela Bondi – nephew of the Carabiniere MOVM in memoriam Domenico Bondi, by the Commander of the Schools of the Carabinieri, by the President of the National Association of the Carabinieri, by the President of ONAOMAC, which is the National Organization for Assistance to the Orphans of Military Personnel of the Carabinieri and by the Commander of the Mobile and Specialized Units.
The naming of the course after Car. MOVM “in memoriam” Daniele Bondi is particularly significant. After the armistice, he distinguished himself for his information and organizational activities and for his fighting skills, and fell into enemy hands. he openly claimed his qualification as a Carabiniere and, although subjected to long tortures, he remained faithful to the secret, sacrificing his own life.
Il General Commander, who spoke during the solemn ceremony, dedicated words full of pride and heartfelt encouragement to the Students: “Believe in your ideas, transform them into concrete actions. Be proud of the uniform you wear and honor those who, even losing their lives, have always worked with firmness and wisdom of purpose, as our fathers said. With vigor and dedication defend the rights of others, protect the weakest against every subtle violence. Your work will be full of responsibility and will go well beyond police duties: it will in fact be reassurance, assistance, relief and support for the populations who always look to the Carabiniere with loving trust. It will certainly not be easy but the reward for your high mission will be the gratitude of the citizens who will find in you the unparalleled feeling of humanity that has always been the heritage of the Force. Only this will warm your heart”.
Il Gen. CA Salvatore Luongo he then concluded with a meaningful message addressed to the young Carabinieri: “Service awaits you at our precious Stations, doors of hope, soul of the Force and beacon of light in the national security system. Remember, as Aristotle said: 'What we must learn to do we learn only by doing it'. Do not be afraid to do things, always look ahead. In all of you, in your spirit of change, in your creativity, in your ability to positively contaminate the community, I place my personal utmost trust”.
The students who have taken the oath will be, for the next few months, attached to the departments of the Provincial Command of Rome most interested in the imminent jubilee events that will affect the Capital, for the performance of multiple services.
